What is film?
Film for movie making is the same as the film that is used in photo cameras. Except that it is about 100ft long (for 16mm) for a roll instead of about 1.5ft. It is the same concept as the photo camera except that on a movie camera it goes at 16-24 frames per second(FPS).
Where do I get it?
You can get film in lots of places. One place I recomend to get more information on getting film is the website www.regular8mm.com This is another great film site.
How do you work the exposure?
The exposure can be tricky with differnt types of lighting. But for most cases with the standard 40/50 asf film a bright sunny day with direct sunlight would be f-22. For shady/sunny f-12-16. For a shady area f-8. For a darker area f-2.5-4. All of these settings are for outdoors. Indoors is completely differnt and more complicated. First learn outside then get a book for the indoor shots.
How do I get the film proccessed?
You can get it proccessed 2 ways. You can send it away to a company to do it. Or you can try to do it yourself. If you are going to do it yourself I suggest you go to www.regular8mm.com because he also has a very good site for it.
Why should I choose film over camcorders?
This is a very debateable Question. For most people camcorders
are cheaper so they automaticly choose that one but film is a
lot higher in quality. It is also more fun to work with. Editing
is eisier. The picture can be projected bigger and the resolution
is hundreds times better than most camcorders. But it is more
expensive to get film for the camera than it is to buy a tape
for a camcorder. The camera can be a lot cheaper than a comcorder
on the other hand. So in the long run it may be a little more
expensive than camcorder but it is much more fun and intersesting.
FILM FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!
